Kingslayer At Last

June 13, 2010

Lich King 10 is down. We’ve been working with a ragtag PuG group, an extended lockout, and reteaching new people every week. Tonight just clicked. We had as many regulars as we possibly could and picked up a few of the lovable Sword of the Morning fellows. After 5-6 attempts, everything went smoothly, no one disconnected, and suddenly he was dead.

It felt pretty epic and fantastic as a healer. My job as a Discipline priest is versatile. I shield Group 1 (melee) and cast Holy Nova for Group 2 (ranged) to clear Infests; however I also spend a lot of time of tank healing, raid healing, and doing DPS.

Previous mana issues were fixed by switching trinkets: Solace of the Defeated paired with Purified Lunar Dust. I’m not sure I went below 60% mana during the entire fight, and I only used my fiend during Phase 4 to be on the safe side.

I burn down the Ice Spheres during the transition phases and help DPS the Val’kyr Shadowguard when necessary. The final phases of the fight are pretty intense, and it is exhilarating to catch a player at the edge of death and bring them back or secure the tanks when another healer is in Frostmourne.

I really do enjoy my class and my spec. Discipline is a solid tank healer and a unique raid healer. It excels at holding ground during a hard debuff, such as Harvest Soul. Most of all, it’s fun! LK is certainly a fight to make any healer feel pleased.

Much love to our tough Druid and Death Knight tanks, an amazing combination, as well as our Holy Paladin, Restoration Druid, and Discipline priest healing team. We had excellent DPS, Rogue, Paladin, Hunter, Boomkin, and Mage, with all the slows and snares we needed!
